Rooftop wooden houses

An architecture design competition in Europe came up with the interesting idea of rooftop wooden houses. Since most cities have a shortage of affordable housing, the rooftop wooden houses make sense.

The use of a natural building material like wood also provides a welcome change from the overuse of concrete as the main building material.

The wooden houses in the design are based on a modular system with a basic model for singles that can be extended for larger families. These options make life easier for city planners looking for a better social mix in housing.

The light construction is made entirely out of wood and creates a comfortable inner climate. The modules are factory made and assembled on site which speeds up the building process considerably. But most of all the rooftop wooden houses give an aesthetic and natural feel to an otherwise grey and dull building.
